Sheffield lawyers’ role in £135m homes renewal
27 May 2008
Lawyers from Nabarro’s Sheffield office helped to clear the way for the £135million regeneration of three of the city’s most run-down housing estates.
Solicitors from the firm’s projects, planning and environment teams acted for Sheffield City Council over the revival of the Scowerdons, Newstead and Weakland estates.
The new project will see 800 homes on the estates replaced with over 1,000 homes for rent, sale and shared ownership. Building work has started in the Weakland estate and the scheme is expected to take six to eight years to complete.
Nabarro has strong record in regeneration and previously acted for the council over the renewal of the Manor housing estate.
“This is a challenging, innovative scheme which provides a good partnership model for delivering affordable homes of a high standard,” says projects partner Tim Shaw.
