Nabarro strengthens its dispute resolution group with two new partners

1 October 2007

Law firm Nabarro has further strengthened its dispute resolution group with the recruitment of partners Peter Fitzpatrick and George Maling.

Peter and George join from the London office of global law firm Howrey LLP where they were partners in the litigation team.

Peter Fitzpatrick is a solicitor specialising in international arbitration and litigation.  With over 22 years of experience, he handles the full range of commercial disputes, with particular expertise in aviation, banking, oil and gas and healthcare.  Peter’s experience in international arbitration covers proceedings before most arbitral institutions, including ICC, London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), London Metal Exchange, as well as ad hoc arbitrations.  In 2004 Peter was rated as one of the top 50 Rainmaker lawyers in the UK by Legal Business.  Peter acts for high profile clients, including Ryanair Limited who is currently advising on the proposed expansion of Stansted Airport.

George Maling also specialises in international arbitration and litigation.  He has practised as both a Barrister and a solicitor in several common law jurisdictions where he has handled a wide variety of disputes, including aviation, competition, construction, insurance, manufacturing, IT, fraud, asset freezing, insolvency, banking and commodities trading.  George’s experience also includes conducting litigation, arbitrations and mediations before the Courts of New Zealand, the Turks and Caicos Islands and England and Wales, and major arbitration institutions (in particular, the LCIA).  He is currently advising Ryanair on a number of matters, including its claim against the Government in relation to the recently imposed security measures at UK airports.

Jonathan Warne, head of Commercial Dispute Resolution at Nabarro, comments on the appointments: “Peter and George are a welcome addition, demonstrating the continued investment of the firm in our disputes practice.  The experience they bring will further enhance our approach of delivering specialist dispute resolution advice to our clients, particularly in international arbitration, aviation and banking.”

“Peter Fitzpatrick and George Maling made significant contributions to Howrey's litigation practice through their hard work and dedication. We thank them and wish them well in their new endeavour,” said Trevor Soames for Howrey in London.
