Nabarro has advised new client Energem Resources Inc., an African energy and biofuels company, on its admission to AIM on 26 November 2007.
Energem, which is already listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, focuses on mid-stream oil, biofuels, and trading and logistics, in sub-Saharan Africa and, most recently, China. The company's interests range from refined oil storage and distribution facilities in Nigeria and Malawi, an ethanol plant in Kenya, a methanol blending business in China and jatropha cultivation in Mozambique. Jatropha seeds can be crushed and refined to produce biodiesel.
The process involved the co-ordination of advisers in the UK, Canada, South Africa, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Kenya, Mozambique, Malawi and other African countries.
Energem's market capitalisation upon admission to AIM was approximately £26 million.
The Nabarro team was led by corporate partners Ian Binnie and Richard Beavan, who were assisted by Ben MacDonald, Jemima Fernside, Paul Donnelly and Annaliese Bate.
Energem's nominated adviser and broker is Canaccord Adams Limited, who was advised by Charles Russell.
Richard Beavan, corporate partner, said:
"Energem is a dynamic company operating in exciting areas. We hope its AIM listing will be the platform for its future growth."
