Nabarro LLP advised Grafton Estate No.2 Limited Partnership, a joint venture between O&H and GE Real Estate, on obtaining planning permission for a mixed use scheme for its site in Mayfair, comprising some 1950’s and 1960’s office buildings situated off Grafton Street and Bruton Lane, W1. The development will involve demolition and redevelopment to provide over 9,000 square metres of office space within a 7 storey office building on Grafton Street, with ground floor retail use, offices and a further 11 storey building comprising a mix of offices and 11 self-contained flats, fronting Bruton Lane. Planning permission was granted on 3 April 2008, subject to a Section 106 Agreement.

“We are delighted to have advised and assisted Grafton Estate obtaining planning permission for a high quality, dynamic scheme that will add value, interest and vitality to the area behind Grafton Street. The Section 106 Agreement secures a substantial package of measures including payments and benefits valued at £592,000 for off-site affordable housing, public art and CCTV security and works for public open space and highways improvements.”
Westminster City Council, the local planning authority, was advised by its Legal Department. The City of London, part owner of the site, was advised by Paul Hickson from its Legal Department.
